We sat down to dinner one night and i looked down and saw this huge ant like insect about an 1 1/2 inches long looking up at me from the floor. It had huge mandibles which were opening and closing. I tried to coax it onto a piece of serviette to take it outside when a young waitress came to the table and looked down at what i was doing..."WHAARGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!" she screamed, in spanish, and stamped on it then ran away... soo, even the locals were affraid.
The funniest time was when we went snake hunting at night and we found a fur de lance snake.Its said that if bitten by one, you would have 18 minutes to get to a hospital before you died. Well we were about a days drive away...Anyway that day i'd hurt my foot and was on crutches, so i was limping quite badly, anyway one of these snakes, a 5 footer slowly crawled onto the path about 6 or 7 feet in front of us. It stopped right in the middle of the path then suddenly it threw itself sideways at us, a group of 12 screaming british tourists ran off into the dark and i overtook em all
