How are these performing this year? Any really good moths yet? I thought I`d try `sugaring` as well...but it`s not the warmest of nights round these parts Roll on summer eh?

Exclamation Moth trap update!

Hi all just to report on how the trap is doing this year very well so far (weather permitting ). But on the good nights catching well in excess of 100 moths. I just take out what i need for mantis food and let the others go. (To catch another night ). Everyone should have one of these great invert food and reptiles such as lizards ect.........
I never ever feed hawks and the rarer moths thats just a no no.
Few pics below thanks for looking.

I'm going to build one of them tommorow! I'm tired of catching only 4 moths max in half an hour Also i'm wondering what kinds of interesting moths we have here in belgium. Some of them are just so pretty Allready came across a few beautiful ones this year.

Also there seem to be so much moths but every year less and less butterflies. I remember 10 years ago you could see dozens at any given moment. now I see one a day on average. And allways the same kind too.

I'm looking to make one of these however I'm not really in the position to have it plugged in so I'd need to have it battery operated. With that in mind, do you think a torch like this would do the job?

41/21 SUPER LED DUAL MODE TORCH FLASHLIGHT + BATTERIES on eBay (end time 06-Aug-10 03:56:11 BST)

If not, what kinda torch am I after?

Hi you wouldnt get many maybe odd 1 or 2 with that one but if you want to go with a torch just leave it shining on a white sheet you might have better luck with something like this as you really need uv. 41/21 LED Torch UV Flashlight Lamp Light Dual Mode on eBay (end time 25-Aug-10 09:10:46 BST) or something simular there are loads on ebay ....good luck.
