I used to do it the way you suggest Alex but it's all a little tricky and rushed, trying to get them into a tank while he's on her back so now I do it the way Craig has suggested.

i dont have a net cage but i do have a large plastic tank that has a net lid, that will be okay wont it? but that is what she is in at the moment!

so ive put her in his tank but they are both hanging upside down, so how is he gonna jump on? they have been in there about an hour and he hasnt noticed her at all and they are staying as still as stones, please help me guys n gals!!

get him settled in a position you can safely leave him/them in ? (curtains, big plant, net cage etc) put the female down near to him but just out of reach of him then offer her a large prey item, some thing that will keep her occupied for a while. The taking of the prey item and subsequent movements of her over powering and eating it will alert him to her presence, this should be all you need and you may well find he switches straight over to mating behaviour and flying leaps straight on to her back where they can be left alone to get on with it.
If nothing happens then maybe you can settle him on your finger (not always easy when he's been disturbed) when settled touch his antenna to her carefully he should instantly recognise her and leap onto her from there, if not give it a few days and try again
