Mine were all calling and all males were more than up for it.
The little brown male who's lost his hat in the photos above was physically removed 3 times from a low down, hunkered in position on 2 separate females backs. I had to move in with the spray gun set on 2 bars lol still took a long time to separate them but i managed to keep her head and jaws pinned down until we wriggled and levered him out of her grip....3 times he was nearly lunch and with only a slightly blacked eye for his troubles, The others were eaten because i left them and the little green male is just up for playground games like piggy back and hopscotch etc.
These have been in my experience very tricky to pair off, very fast and belligerent females. Of coarse every one has different experiences but for me these were right up there with the top 5 most annoying to pair off mantids lol

lol! don`t underestimate the little green fellas...Mr Creosote `copped off` twice before he was et. He lives on in two ooths.
Seriously though Simon, well done if you have surviving males! Maybe you can give us some definitive advice on how you`re doing it?

all i have done with them is 2 pairs i saw the females calling and just put the males in the sweet jars with them, the males hoped on within a hour or so and paired up no problems, the 3rd pair i did when just chilling on the bed female was calling she came out of her sweet jar and sat on my bed lol put male behind her and he flew onto her she took a good swing at him but with twig to had i saved him lol she had a large locust and he did his thing was still paired up next day but she ate him during the night, that is how easy they have been for me

Ahh! Maybe I`m `messing` them about too much? Instead of introducing the male to a calling female, I`m taking them both out and into another place...Seems to make sense your way...if she`s comfy then introduce him without disturbing her too much. The remaining females are in larger enclosures now so there`s more scope for doing just that. Cheers

See i would never put a male in a females enclosure, just asking for trouble.
No problem getting males to mount it was the staying alive and mating part that was problematical, females all stuffed to max and calling males were offered feeding females in male enclosures, put males directly onto females and both subjects placed on big piece of wood hanging from ceiling so as i could watch all of the males approach, again all successful as far as mounting was concerned but no pairing seen... that was until males hat stand was removed!! not had this much hassle pairing a species of mantid in years.

Hmmm? Diff`rent strokes n all that? I can see that keeping these in culture might mean upping the ratios from an ooth each time; I mean it`ll be no good just having one of each and hoping for the best! maybe 7:3? for `guaranteeing` a next generation?

Raay! `mrs creosote` laid another ooth! That`s 2, 20days since the first, fathered by a small brown one, Genghiz I think...but I ran out of names and they were hopping in and out of each others containers anyway! lol! The other mated females have laid too..Wonder if it`s because the heating went on full bore for 12 hours?....7 ooths total so far, pretty sure they are all fertile as well (fingers x-ed!)
So I came down to 5 fresh ooths this morningEgg bound? Not these girls!
